Links to other key stakeholders

Successful delivery of our low carbon innovation strategy also requires significant engagement and collaboration with key stakeholders across the spectrum of support and delivery of energy innovation. The three organisations each have existing relationships with these stakeholders and details of these are outside of the scope of this document.

The key stakeholder groups are listed below, with a high level description of why engagement with these bodies is essential:

Research Councils – to ensure alignment across UK research activities, with the results of fundamental research fed through into applied research, and the outcome of developments later in the innovation system being fed back to inform the direction of future early-stage research.

Policy Makers (DECC, BIS, TreasuryDefra, CLG, DfT) – to ensure activities are aligned with policy objectives and outcomes of innovation activities are fed into policy development.

Regional Bodies (RDAs) – to maximise regional delivery of energy innovation objectives.

Coordinating bodies (ERP, UKERC) – to optimise the overall coordination and delivery of UK energy research and innovation activities. (The CEOs of all three organisations are permanent members of the Energy Research Partnership).

All three organisations are active members of the Energy Research Partnership (ERP) and see the ERP as playing a vital role in the on-going direction setting and review for this Low Carbon Innovation Strategy.
