Strategic Framework

The LCICG has published a Strategic Framework entitled Coordinating Low Carbon Technology Innovation Support. The document is available to download under “Related Document” to the right of this text.

The Strategic Framework sets out the LCICG’s planned approach to collaboration on commercial energy and the prioritisation of future innovation support programmes. Building on the TINA evidence base, it also presents a shared assessment of the key innovation needs that will likely require government support between now and 2020.

Strategic Framework Briefing and Networking Event

The LCICG’s March 2014 event at the Royal Society of Arts focussed on the Strategic Framework which sets out the UK’s planned approach to prioritising energy innovation support to 2020. The successful event was attended by more than 150 key players from industry, academia and the public sector.

Four speakers gave short presentations which were well received by the audience.

They were then joined on the rostrum by members of the LCICG Steering Committee for a lively Question and Answer session, before breaking into a networking session where delegates were able to network with each other and members of the LCICG.

The speeches given were:

Rt Hon Gregory Barker (Minister of State DECC) “The role of energy innovation in helping the UK to meet its low carbon and energy security goals” (click on link to read the speech)

Dr Keith MacLean (Policy and Research Director, SSE and Energy Research Partnership Industry Co-chair) “The Importance of innovation and of government and industry working together in partnership” Sir Mark Walport (Government Chief Scientific Advisor) “Enabling energy innovation for security and growth”
